Gustavo A. Escalera, M.D., F.A.C.S.
President & C.E.O. of Surgery South, P.C

Dr. Escalera is the founding partner of Surgery South. He is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and received his surgical training at Wayne County General Hospital and the University of Michigan. He is a board certified specialist in General Surgery, a Senior Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of many national and international professional societies. During his 38-year military career, Dr. Escalera served in various positions of leadership including hospital commander, senior flight surgeon and state surgeon for the Army National Guard of Georgia. He has practiced medicine in the Southern Crescent since 1979, and has fulfilled many leadership roles at both Southern Regional Medical Center and Henry Medical Center. Currently, he limits his practice to the care of post-operative surgical patients in the office and acts as the CEO and practice administrator of Surgery South, P.C.
